Well damn, speed doesn't always mean quality. I started setting a timer for each hoof and working faster on the easy parts to save time for the tricky spots. It helped me cut 10 minutes off my time without rushing through the important stuff.

Ha, @terry_jones over there gonna have to update his bumper sticker to "fast is fast, just don't screw up the hard parts". But seriously, timers for each hoof sounds like something I'd try once, get distracted, and end up with a stopwatch wrapped around my ankle.

Honestly I used to be in the "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" camp but this actually makes a ton of sense. Breaking it down like that sounds way more practical than just trying to rush through everything.
