That viral "earthquake predictor" post got shared in my neighborhood group yesterday

Neighbor posted it claiming some guy in California predicted the one in Turkey. Looked it up - pure coincidence. Dude makes thousands of vague predictions a month. One sticks and people call him a genius. I called her out with screenshots. She got defensive. Whole thing made me wonder how many other posts I just scroll past without checking.

Oh man, thats exactly what I found with that earthquake guy too. I actually sat down one afternoon and scrolled through his feed, and @thomasshah your buddy Mark's story is spot on. The dude predicted "volcanic activity" somewhere on the planet every single day for a month, and people only remember the one that happened in Italy. It's wild how confirmation bias works, like we all just want to believe someone saw it coming even when the evidence is right there showing they didn't. Makes me wonder how many other "predictions" I've seen and just nodded along without checking.

You ever seen one of those "miracle cure" posts go around? My buddy Mark shared one about some guy who predicted the 2020 wildfires. I looked into it and found the same thing - the guy literally posted hundreds of predictions every week. One time he said "big earthquake somewhere in the Pacific" and another time "major weather event in the Northern Hemisphere." Real specific right? My buddy got all pissed when I showed him the receipts. Now every time he shares something I just send him a screenshot of the other 99 failed predictions.
