That 'urgent safety recall' email I got last week was completely fake

I got an email last Tuesday saying my car had an urgent recall from a dealership in Phoenix. It looked super official with logos and everything, said I needed to come in by Friday. I called the actual dealership and they said it was a phishing scam, they had 12 other people call that same day about it. Has anyone else seen these fake recall emails going around?

Got that same one last week. The dealership name and logo were from a place 50 miles away I've never even been to. My husband almost fell for it because it had our car's VIN in the email. Scary how much info those people have now.

About 3 months ago I got one that had my truck's exact VIN and my name. I sat there staring at my phone feeling like I needed to apologize to it for being so gullible. I actually called the dealership number listed in the email, which I now know is the biggest mistake you can make. Some guy with a heavy accent answered and tried to get me to "verify" my bank information for a warranty extension. I told him I'd rather trust a raccoon to do my taxes than give my banking info to a stranger on the phone.
