My Yellowstone trip got me thinking about online travel hype

I booked a trip to Yellowstone after seeing so many posts about it being a must see. When I got there, it was crowded with people taking the same photos. It made me wonder if this is just a short lived trend. What's your take on travel spots that blow up online?
