My brother said he's quitting all social media for a year

We were having coffee in Denver last week and he told me, "I think all these new apps are just designed to burn out fast." He pointed out how he jumped from Clubhouse to BeReal to Lapse in under 18 months. It made me realize maybe these aren't trends, they're just disposable. Has anyone else watched a platform they liked just vanish?

Disposable" is the perfect word for it. I was really into Vine. Made dumb little videos with friends. Then it was just gone one day. Felt like losing a photo album.

Dude wait, you actually downloaded all your Vine clips? That's insane but honestly kind of genius. I had a bunch of dumb skits on there too with my buddies and I never thought to save any of them. Now they're just gone like they never happened. That photo album comparison hits hard because I still remember laughing at some of those videos with my brother and now I can't even show anyone what I'm talking about. Makes me wonder what stuff I'm missing from the current apps that'll disappear without warning too.
