I just noticed my 'day in the life' video from last month got 10k views, which is way more than my usual stuff.
It made me wonder if these casual, unedited video diaries are a lasting format people actually want, or if the algorithm is just pushing them as a temporary trend.

That 10k is a good sign, but calling it a want for realness is a bit simple. The best vlog diaries work because they're edited to feel casual. Look at how Peter McKinnon films his coffee run. It looks off the cuff, but every shot is framed. The algorithm likes watch time, and a relaxed story holds people. The trend might be the style, but the skill is making the messy parts look good on purpose.

Peter McKinnon's coffee run still takes a full crew. Realness wins when the mess isn't planned.

Feel like you're onto something but missing the bigger picture. That 10k isn't a fluke. People are tired of the overproduced stuff and crave real connection, even if it's messy. The format works because it feels like hanging out, not being sold to. Algorithms might boost it now, but the want for realness isn't going away.
