Hot take: My cousin in Austin said he's done with all short video apps
We were at a family BBQ last month and he told me he deleted every app that pushes short clips to his feed. He said they were just noise and he wanted to focus on long form stuff again. It made me wonder if the whole short video trend is already burning out for some people. Has anyone else seen friends or family totally ditch that format?

What did he replace the scrolling time with? I had to do the same thing last year, and the key for me was having a real hobby ready to go. I put a book on the coffee table and left my guitar out on its stand. When the itch to scroll hit, I reached for those instead. It feels empty at first, but after a week your brain starts to calm down.

paige86 said it makes you feel like your brain is being zapped, I mean come on. People have been calling everything addictive for like 20 years now, it's just TV for your phone. Your cousin can do whatever he wants but I don't think it's this deep conspiracy or whatever.

My uncle in Phoenix did the same thing last week. He said the constant scrolling made him feel like his brain was being zapped. The thing nobody talks about is how these apps are designed to make you feel like you're learning or keeping up, but you're just watching the same five jokes and life hacks on a loop. It's not even real variety, it's just an illusion of it. Your cousin is right to call it noise. I bet a lot of people are quietly getting sick of that feeling but just haven't deleted the apps yet.
