Wasted $600 on a cold air intake that did nothing

I bought one of those big name cold air intakes last spring for my 2015 F150. Spent about $600 total after shipping and I installed it myself in my driveway. Thought it would give me some real power gains and maybe even better gas mileage like the ads said. After a month of driving I noticed zero difference in how the truck felt and my fuel economy actually dropped a little bit. I pulled the stock box back out of the garbage and put everything back to factory last weekend. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has fallen for this or if I just picked the wrong brand...

Did you remember to recalibrate your computer after the install?

Seems like so many things these days are sold on hype instead of actual results, whether it's car parts or kitchen gadgets or even workout plans. You spend good money on something that promises to change everything and it ends up making things worse or not doing anything at all. At least you caught it quick and went back to stock, that's probably the smartest move you made with that whole deal.
