Unpopular opinion: I think the $500 I put into a cold air intake was a total waste...
Everyone says it's the first mod you should do, but I got maybe 1 mpg better on my 3.5L EcoBoost, if that. The sound is cool, but for that money, a good tune would have done way more. Has anyone else felt let down by one?

Been there, done that. The cold air intake hype is real, but the results are often just noise. For most daily drivers, the factory box is already pretty good. That money almost always goes further with a proper tune, like you said. It unlocks what the engine can actually do instead of just letting it breathe a tiny bit easier. Save your cash for the mods that make a real change.
