Took me 3 hours to swap the intercooler on my 2015 F150, should have been 30 minutes

I was trying to get that Banks intercooler on before a trip to Denver and ran into the biggest headache with the charge pipes. The stock clips are trash and one of them snapped off, so I spent 2 hours just hunting down the right replacement at AutoZone. Anyone else have luck with aftermarket clip kits or did I just get a bad batch?

Wait, you really used a zip tie and RTV on charge pipe clips that see that much boost? How long did you let that RTV cure before you drove it?

Fighting aluminum against plastic" is the real truth right there. A two hour parts run is nothing compared to that pain.

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one a little. Those stock clips are garbage for sure, but blaming the whole job on a two hour parts run feels harsh. I've done that exact swap on a 2014, and the real time sink for me was getting the old intercooler out without bending the AC condenser fins. I spent 45 minutes with a tiny pick just straightening rows I smooshed. The clip that broke on mine I actually fixed with a zip tie and some high temp RTV, and it's held for two years now. Maybe the Banks kit is different, but I think a lot of the frustration comes from rushing and fighting aluminum against plastic instead of just stopping and taking a smarter approach.
