TIL that off-roading in Moab can wreck more than just your suspension

I took my F150 out to Moab last spring for the first time. I was more focused on the trail and rocks than what was happening under the hood. Halfway through day two, my check engine light came on and the truck started running rough. Turns out all that bouncing around loosened a connector on my mass airflow sensor, and dust had caked up my air filter way faster than I expected. Has anyone else run into sensor issues after a rough trail day?

Hold up though, that MAF connector coming loose is a pretty common thing on those F-150s, not really from the rough trail itself. Dust caking the air filter is just part of the deal in Moab and you gotta check it after a day out there. So your sensors were fine, the truck just needed a solid cleaning and a connector snap.

Maybe lmao but you're acting like a loose connector and some dust is some kind of crisis. It’s a truck on a trail, not a NASA rover, just click it back in and move on.

Wait @owens.cameron you're telling me Ford didn't fix that MAF connector issue across all those years? I figured it was just my bad luck on that specific trail, not a known thing with the truck itself.
