Spotted a 5.0 Coyote with a supercharger at the Cars and Coffee in Austin, but the owner said he's having belt slip issues.

He was running a 3.0L Whipple kit and said after about 500 miles the belt just won't stay put, even with a new tensioner. He thinks the crank pulley might be the problem, but he's not sure. Has anyone else with a boosted Coyote run into this and found a solid fix?

Walker.Cole is wrong about the stock balancer being the problem. I've seen plenty of guys run that exact setup for years with no slip. The real issue is almost always a bad belt alignment from the supercharger install itself. He needs to check his pulleys with a straight edge before wasting money.

Nah, I’m gonna have to side with @bettywood on this one, respectfully. I’ve see a ton of guys run the factory balancer with a 3.0 Whipple and it’s fine for years. The belt slip is almost always a pulley alignment thing. If the brackets or idlers aren’t perfectly lined up the belt will walk and eat itself. Dude needs to grab a straight edge and check every pulley before swapping the balancer. Otherwise he’s just chasing the wrong problem.

That 3.0 Whipple is a lot of blower for a stock crank pulley. The factory harmonic balancer can start to wobble under that load and throw the belt. A good aftermarket ATI or Innovators West balancer usually locks it down for good.
