Pro tip: Cold air intake made my truck louder but slower for 3 months

Swapped in a K&N 77 series on my '17 3.5EB back in June. Day one it sounded mean as hell, but I lost like 2 tenths in the quarter mile. Checked my data logs and the MAF readings were all over the place. Turned out the oil from the filter was coating the sensor. Cleaned it with CRC mass air flow cleaner last week and boom, truck feels way snappier now and the times dropped back down. Anyone else run into this with oiled filters?

Oh man @alexc993 nailed it with "oiled filter crap." That was exactly my headache too when I put a K&N on my old 3.5EB. It made this awesome growl that I loved, but I swear it just bogged down the whole truck for a solid three weeks until I figured out it was the oil messing with the MAF. I pulled the sensor out and it looked like it had been dipped in bacon grease, no joke. Cleaning it with that CRC spray was a total night and day difference, made the throttle response feel like it woke up from a nap. Totally feel you on the "sounded mean as hell" part but then wondering why your truck got slower, happened to me exactly the same way.
