Pro tip: check your intercooler boots after a hard run

Found a hairline crack in my passenger side boot after pulling a trailer up a steep grade near Flagstaff last Saturday. Must have been heat cycling for a few months... started noticing a slight lag around 3500 rpm. Replaced both sides with some heavy duty silicone ones from a local shop. Boost feels way more consistent now. Anyone else had stock boots fail on them around 60k miles?

Holy crap, 60k miles? That's insane. I'm sitting here looking at my boot right now and I only got like 35k on mine, but now I'm paranoid. You mean you could actually SEE the crack or was it one of those tiny ones you have to feel for? I had a buddy whose boot blew completely on the highway, sounded like a shotgun went off under his hood.

Wait, you couldn't see it at all? I used to think you'd always spot a tear, but my 50k mile boot looked totally fine until I took it off and found a hairline split. Terry_carter15 was right, I'm swapping all mine for silicone now too.

Stock ones are garbage at that mileage, silicone is the way to go.
