I finally tried the 'cold air intake in the fender' trick on my 2018 5.0

For a long time, I thought moving the air filter down into the fender well was just for looks and maybe a tiny sound boost. My buddy kept telling me to try it, saying his truck felt way more responsive, especially when it was hot out. I finally got around to it last weekend, using a basic kit from a local parts store. I was shocked at the difference. The intake temps dropped by almost 15 degrees according to my cheap scanner, and you can really feel it pull harder from a stop. It's not a huge power jump, but it's a solid, noticeable gain for about an hour of work and under $200. Has anyone else done this mod and noticed better mileage on longer highway runs, or is that just wishful thinking?

Solid, noticeable gain" feels like a placebo effect to me...

Track your lifts, not just how you feel.

Wait, so you think any gain you can actually see in the mirror is just in your head? What about when your old t-shirt gets tight across the shoulders, or you need to move up a belt notch? Those are real things you can measure without a barbell.
