That streaming site's 'one weird trick' meme had me debugging for 3 hours

Kept seeing this meme about a streaming site where you just flip your phone upside down to fix buffering issues. I tried it on my laptop, my tablet, even rotated my whole monitor. Nothing worked obviously. Finally realized after 3 hours the meme was fake and just a joke about how desperate people get for slow internet. Has anyone else fallen for a viral tech fix that was clearly satire?

Hold on, I actually tried that trick and it worked for me. I was watching on my phone and the video kept freezing every 30 seconds. Flipped the phone upside down and weirdly enough, the buffering stopped completely. It might sound fake but there's a chance some streaming apps have bugs with screen orientation detection that messes with their video player. Your 3 hour debug probably missed a step or your device just doesn't have the same bug. The meme might not be completely fake for everyone.

Honestly, I used to think the same way you did and really believed that whole thing was a joke. But your point about screen orientation bugs actually makes a lot of sense, I've seen weirder glitches with video players on apps before. Changed my mind on this one, maybe the meme wasn't totally fake after all.
