Showerthought: I spent $80 on a 'Meme Encyclopedia' book back in 2015 and it's basically a fossil now.
Found it cleaning out my closet. It has stuff like 'Bad Luck Brian' and 'Success Kid' with these long explanations that feel so dated. Back then, I thought it would help me get all the jokes online, but memes move way too fast for a printed book. Anyone else have a weird old guide to internet culture that just didn't age well?

My cousin bought a "Net Lingo for Parents" guidebook around 2010 to understand our texts. It had a whole chapter explaining what "BRB" and "LOL" meant, with pronunciation tips. She tried to use "ROFL" at the dinner table and we all just stared at her. That book was out of date before the ink was even dry.

Oh man, that's like trying to learn slang from a dictionary... doomed from the start.

Remember those old "text speak" cheat sheets people printed out? They looked like secret codes but just made everything more confusing. What's the most awkward time you've seen someone try too hard with internet slang?
