PSA: I saw a meme about a skeleton at a computer and I think it's a warning.
My nephew showed me a picture yesterday of a skeleton sitting at a desk with the caption 'me waiting for the joke to be explained'. He just laughed, but it got me thinking. I realized it's about those memes where you feel left out because you don't get the reference. It made me worry that a lot of inside jokes online are designed to make people feel excluded. Has anyone else noticed memes becoming more cryptic lately?

What's the point of a joke if nobody gets it? That skeleton is just the natural result of memes trying way too hard to be clever. Feels like half of them are just secret handshakes for people who never go outside.

Yeah, the "secret handshakes for people who never go outside" part is so true. It feels like some memes are just made for a tiny group to feel smart, and the rest of us are just left staring at our screens. I miss when jokes were just funny without needing a whole explanation.
