Hit 100,000 miles on my rig last Tuesday
I was rolling through Nevada on I-80 when the odometer clicked over to 100,000. Not the first time I've hit that number, but it hit different this time. Bought this truck used with 60k on it three years ago. Every single mile was logged by me. That's like driving around the earth four times. Didn't have anyone to celebrate with so I just pulled into a Love's in Battle Mountain and bought myself a hot dog. Made me think about all the small towns and weird diners I've seen in that stretch. Anyone else have a random milestone moment that caught you off guard?

Did you raise a coffee cup to the dashboard or anything? That hot dog sounds about right. When I hit 150k in my old F-150 I was coming through this tiny place in New Mexico. Pulled over at a gas station that looked like it had been there since the 70s, bought a pack of peanuts and just sat on the tailgate watching the sunset. Something about those big numbers makes you stop and think. Like every mile has a story behind it even if you don't remember half of them. I still think about that moment sometimes.

My buddy @sam_murphy39 hit 200k in his Tacoma and celebrated by eating a gas station burrito alone in the parking lot.

That line about "every mile has a story behind it even if you don't remember half of them" really hits. That's what gets me about high mileage cars. You're just sitting there driving and suddenly you'll pass a diner and think "oh yeah that's where I got that flat tire in the rain back in '09" or you'll see a rest stop and remember sleeping in the back seat during a road trip with your college buddies. It's like the truck has its own memory bank even if you can't pull up every single detail. Makes you realize how much living you actually did behind that wheel. And that sunset in New Mexico thing? That's the kind of moment that stays with you way longer than any big vacation ever does.
