Everyone seems to love that 'woman yelling at cat' meme, but I think we're all reading it wrong
I keep seeing people use that picture of the woman at the dinner table and the confused cat to show someone being dramatic over something small. But I looked into it last week, and the original video shows the woman is actually upset about a serious family argument. The cat part is from a totally different show. So for the last 3 days, I've been pointing this out in comments, and people get mad. They say the new meaning is what matters. But doesn't the real story change the joke? Has anyone else tried to explain the original context and just gotten yelled at for it?

Oh man, you're fighting a losing battle there. Trying to explain meme origins is like telling kids Santa isn't real at the mall. The internet already decided what that picture means, and facts are just annoying speed bumps on that highway. I've learned you just have to let it go, or you'll spend your whole life being the "well, actually" guy getting booed off the stage.

Yeah, you're totally right. I tried to correct someone on the whole "distracted boyfriend" meme once, saying the original was a stock photo about dieting. Got like fifty replies telling me to shut up and let people enjoy things. It's just not worth the headache.
