Appreciation post: Memes that stay weird are more fun than explained ones
I've seen people dissect every viral meme until it's not funny, but I think the memes that no one gets are better. There was this image of a cat with sunglasses and nonsense captions that went around. My friends and I spent weeks coming up with theories. We had a blast making up our own meanings and laughing at how absurd it was. Then some site posted a full analysis and it killed the vibe. The meme became too clear and lost its edge. For me, the joy is in the mystery, not the answer. Maybe we should chill and not overexplain everything online.

You know how @derekmason asked why we pick apart fun things? I'm guilty of that, once spent an hour on a meme only to realize I was overthinking a joke about toast. Now I just laugh at the weirdness and move on.

What makes people wanna dissect fun stuff anyway?

Sometimes digging deeper shows how clever something really is. Finding those hidden layers makes the fun stuff even better, like seeing the work behind a magic trick.
