Watched a senior esthetician do a 45-minute facial without touching a single product tube and I totally switched my view on extraction tools

Last week at a trade show in Portland I saw this older lady work on a model. She used her fingers, a hot towel, and a metal comedone extractor. Nothing else. No fancy gadgets. I always thought the more tools the better. But her results were way cleaner than my tool-heavy routine. Now I'm wondering if I've been overcomplicating stuff. Has anyone else ditched the machines and gone back to basics?

Hold on, you saw a whole 45-minute facial with just fingers, a towel, and THAT one tool? No way. That sounds like she was working magic with nothing. I've got a drawer full of gadgets at home that I barely touch anymore after watching a video of a Korean esthetician do the same thing with just her pinky fingers. Makes you wonder if all those ultrasonic scrubbers and LED masks are just expensive paperweights. Did she use any kind of oil or just go in dry with the comedone extractor?

Sounds like a whole lot of overthinking for a facial lol.

And to add to what you're saying about those gadgets, I've basically turned my ultrasonic scrubber into a glorified shelf decoration after realizing my fingers do a better job at feeling out congestion. The pressure control is way more precise when you're actually touching the skin instead of watching a screen. It's humbling to admit a $5 tool and some good technique can outperform hundreds of dollars in equipment.
