Unpopular opinion: I think a lot of us are rushing the steam phase during a facial
I timed myself and realized I was only steaming for 4 minutes, but after extending it to a full 7, my extractions became way easier and gentler. Has anyone else found a sweet spot for steam time on different skin types?

Hold up, mineral film can block pores? That's a new one for me and honestly a bit scary. I've been using my steamer with regular tap water for years without a second thought. It makes sense though, my water is super hard. I guess I need to grab some distilled water and see if it changes anything.

Steam time totally depends on your water quality too. Hard water leaves a mineral film that can actually block pores instead of opening them. I switched to distilled water in my steamer and noticed a difference in how my skin reacted. The steam felt cleaner and my face wasn't as tight afterward. What kind of water do you use in your steamer?

Wait, mineral film can BLOCK pores? That's actually kind of terrifying. I've just been using tap water this whole time and wondering why my face sometimes feels worse after. I mean, it makes total sense now that you say it. I guess all that stuff in hard water has to go somewhere, and it's just sitting on my skin. I'm definitely trying distilled water next time.
