Tried a new method for extractions on oily skin and the results were night and day

Last month, I had two clients back-to-back with similar oily, congested skin. On the first, I used my usual method of steam and manual pressure. On the second, I tried a new approach I read about: using a warm enzyme mask for 10 minutes first to soften everything up. The difference was huge. The extractions on the second client were way easier and left almost no redness. Has anyone else found a specific prep step that made a big difference for you?

My old method was basically just me and my thumbs trying to push a boulder uphill. I switched to a chemical exfoliant soak first and now it feels like the gunk just politely lines up and walks out. The before and after photos look like two different species of skin.

Right? That soak step is a total game changer. I use a cheap BHA liquid on a cotton pad, let it sit for a full five minutes, then go in with a warm washcloth. It softens everything up so much that light pressure is all you need.

Oh man, I feel that. My old routine was like trying to scrub a potato with a dry paper towel. I'd just rub my nose raw with a rough washcloth and a lot of hope. Now, after letting some BHA sit for a few minutes, it's like the pores just open the door and hand the gunk over. It's almost too easy. I used to think my skin was just built different, but nope, I was just doing it all wrong.
