Just found out skin cycling is basically just old school exfoliation with a fancy name lol
I was scrolling through some derm articles last night and realized that whole skin cycling trend is just rotating your actives and taking rest nights. My mentor back in 2019 was calling it "active scheduling" and had me doing the same thing for our clients. Kinda wild how something so simple gets repackaged every few years. Anyone else notice old techniques coming back with new names in this industry?

@derekjenkins is spot on. My derm called it "rest cycling" years ago.

84 dollars for a retinol is just robbery when the same thing used to be called "granactive retinoid" and cost 20 bucks lol. I swear the beauty industry just cycles the same three concepts: exfoliate, hydrate, wait a night. My esthetician friend calls it "buffering" which is literally just the rest night step.

Hang on though, @derekjenkins - granactive retinoid is actually a different (and less stable) form of retinol, not the exact same thing, so that price jump is partly about the newer ingredient tech (which is still annoying, I agree).
