Appreciation post: The lighting in my new dentist's office totally changed how I see skin

I had an appointment at Bright Smile Dental in the Westgate Plaza last week, and the overhead lights in the treatment room were this perfect, cool, diffused white. It made every tiny texture and pore on my face so clear, but in a way that wasn't harsh or shadowy like some salon lights. It really made me rethink the lighting setup in my own treatment room for doing extractions or peels. Has anyone else found a place with surprisingly good lighting for skin analysis?

Bad lighting is the worst. My old gym had these yellow overhead lights that made everyone look weirdly healthy, then I'd get home and see my actual face in the mirror. It was a total lie. Finding a place with honest, clear light feels like a public service. I might start judging all businesses by their lighting now.

What gets me is how it messes with your head long-term. You start to trust that fake glow, so when you finally see real daylight on your skin, it feels like a personal failure. It's not just about looking tired. It's like the lighting gaslights you into thinking you're better or worse off than you really are. I bet some places do it on purpose.

Remember reading that post from @the_elizabeth about the gym lights. It made me check the bulbs in my own bathroom. I had those soft white ones that hide everything, so I swapped them for daylight LEDs. The first morning was a shock, I looked tired, but at least I know what I'm really working with now. Good lighting doesn't lie, even if the truth is a bit rough sometimes.
