A client's skin texture changed in 8 weeks after I stopped using a certain tool

Honestly, I need to talk about this because it really shook me. I had a regular client with rough, uneven texture on her cheeks that we just couldn't smooth out. We were doing a standard routine with a professional-grade microdermabrasion machine every other week for about 4 months. The change was minimal. Tbh, I was getting frustrated. Then, about 8 weeks ago, I decided to stop the microderm entirely and switch to a gentle enzyme peel and a strict hydrating serum plan with ceramides. The difference is night and day. Her skin is now plump, smooth, and the texture is almost gone. I think the constant physical exfoliation was just irritating her barrier and making things worse. Has anyone else had a client where stopping a 'standard' tool was the real fix?

Wow, that's such a huge win for your client! I've seen the same thing happen when skin gets over-exfoliated. Sometimes the best move is to just stop and let the barrier heal itself. Switching to gentle chemical exfoliation and heavy hydration is the perfect fix. It's a great reminder that sometimes less is more with skin care.

My friend went through that exact thing last year. She was using a scrub and acids every single day trying to fix texture. Her face got so red and tight it looked like a sunburn. She finally listened and just used a gentle cleanser and a thick moisturizer for like, two weeks straight. The change was crazy, her skin calmed down so much. It really does prove that backing off is often the best fix.
