Warning: That trick with a zip tie on the governor rope tensioner can actually cause a skip.
I saw a guy in Tampa do it to 'hold' the tension while he worked, but it threw off the calibration by almost 2mm and we got a false overspeed trip, so what's your go-to method for keeping tension steady during a governor swap?

Wait, he did that on an actual job site?

Honestly, that zip tie trick seemed like a good idea for years... until a buddy of mine tried it on a 7100 series. The whole thing shifted just enough during final torque that the overspeed had to be reset twice. Now I just use a second wrench to lock the tensioner in place, way less chance of it moving on you.

That overspeed reset sounds like a major headache. Did your buddy say if the zip tie snapped or just stretched enough to let the tensioner slip? I've always wondered about the exact failure point.
