Vent: A 'simple' door lock adjustment on a 90s Dover in Cincinnati took me 4 hours

Everyone says adjusting the door lock cam on those old Dover MRLs is a quick job, maybe 30 minutes tops. I got called for a sticking door, found the usual suspect, and then spent the next three and a half hours chasing a phantom bind because the guide shoe on the opposite side had a hairline crack you couldn't see without pulling the whole panel. What's the most time you've lost on a job that looked easy from the start?

Yeah, that's the worst. It's like when you go to fix a leaky faucet and end up needing to replace a whole pipe in the wall because the real problem was hidden. You see it everywhere, like a simple computer update that finds some weird driver conflict and eats your whole afternoon. The easy fix is a trap, it's always the thing you don't see first that gets you.

I used to think quick fixes worked but @the_parker is right, it's always the hidden thing that gets you.

Forget the faucet, it's the whole house settling on bad pipes.
