Three years ago I bombed a simple door adjustment in Chicago

I was working on an old Otis in a Loop building back in 2021. Spent 45 minutes trying to get the door rollers to stop dragging across the threshold. Kept adding shims and making it worse. Foreman walked over and just said 'you're overthinking it, the track is bent.' He was right. Tapped it with a hammer and it was fixed in 5 seconds. Felt dumb but I've never made that mistake again. Anyone else have a fix that was way simpler than you thought?

Oh man, this one hits close to home for me. I used to be the guy that would overcomplicate everything thinking I had to show off or something. Like I thought the harder the fix the more impressive it was, which is dumb looking back. But after a few times of wasting hours on something that just needed a quicker look, I finally learned my lesson. Your foreman probably saved you a lot of future headache by pointing that out. It's funny how the simplest fix is usually the right one once you stop trying to be a hero about it.

Didn't that one guy on YouTube fix a whole engine with a zip tie once?
