The old adjustments on Otis 211s still beat the new smart controllers
I worked on an Otis 211 from 1982 last week, and the old mechanical door limit switches just worked. No software glitches, no firmware updates, just a screwdriver and a feeler gauge. Contrast that with the new smart controller I dealt with Tuesday at the hospital job, took me 3 hours to clear a ghost fault. Has anyone else found the older systems more reliable for basic adjustments?

Ghost faults are the worst on those digital boards, but what was the specific error code you kept chasing? I've noticed some of the newer controllers will pull a phantom out-of-level fault if the door zone inductor gets any debris on it, which never happened with the old mechanical cams. Did you try swapping the logic board or did you actually track down the root cause? Because I've seen guys waste hours resetting when the real fix is cleaning the door locks.

Cleaning door locks over swapping a board? That's way too much like actual work. I'd rather swap three logic boards and still have the ghost fault than dig into a door lock with a toothpick. Plus, swapping boards gives you that nice satisfying click when they seat in, way more exciting than wiping some grime.

Not really, I’d take a quick software reset over hunting a mechanical switch any day.
