So I've been using the wrong tool to check door zone clearance for like two years
I was working on a 90s Dover in an old office building downtown, and the door zone was giving me fits. I kept using my 6-inch scale to check the gap, thinking it was fine. Then this new guy, Jake, watches me for a minute and just says, 'You know they make a gauge for that, right?' He pulls out this little bent piece of metal, a proper door zone gauge, and slides it in. It fit perfect. My scale was too thick by a solid 1/16th, which explained why I kept getting callbacks for door chatter on that model. I felt so dumb. I guess I just never saw anyone use the right tool and never thought to ask. Anyone else have a 'right tool for the job' moment that seems obvious now?

Two years with the wrong tool, man, that's a whole new level of stubborn.

Tell me about it. I used a cheap screwdriver for a kitchen cabinet project and stripped every single screw head. Had to drill them all out and start over, took three times as long.

Yeah I've done that, then tried to fix it with pliers and made it look like a bear attacked my cabinets lol.
