PSA: Tried a cheap brake shoe swap on a MRL in Dallas

Put in the cheapest brake shoes I could find last month. They started glazing over after just 200 cycles. Stick with OEM parts or you'll be redoing the whole job in half the time. Anyone else run into this with aftermarket stuff?

Man I had a buddy who tried the same thing on his rig out in Houston and he said the cheap shoes were basically sanding down his drums from day one. By 300 cycles he had grooves so deep you could fit a nickel in there. Had to replace the whole drum setup which cost way more than just buying OEM in the first place. Sometimes you gotta learn the hard way that some parts just aren't worth skimping on.

Did you ever try just getting the mid-tier shoes instead of going all the way to OEM? I found a brand that was like 30% cheaper than the dealer parts but still held up for over 500 cycles on my truck, only started seeing some wear around 450. Sometimes you can find that sweet spot if you do a little digging and ask around at the local shops.
