PSA: I keep seeing guys skip the full load test on 2000 lb capacity freight doors

Last month in Phoenix, a unit passed the safety circuit check but dropped under a 1500 lb dummy load because the brake wasn't seated right. The spec sheet says test to 125% of rated load, but folks are just hitting the test button and calling it good. Anyone else run into shops cutting this corner lately?

Yeah, that "passing the safety circuit but dropping" part... we had a dock light that passed its own little self-test but the whole armature was just... cooked. It would light up for the check, then fail under real heat. Makes you wonder what else is just ticking boxes.

Our old apartment complex had a fire alarm panel that passed its weekly test beep for two years straight. The actual heat sensors in the units were full of dust and bugs. That's the thing, @grace_allen, a lot of these systems are built to pass the easy check, not handle the real failure. It's annoying but I doubt it's ever the thing that causes a major disaster.

Ugh, we had a garage door do the same exact thing!
