PSA: Dropped $60 on a laser alignment tool, worth every penny

Been leveling elevator rails by eye for years. Picked up a cheap laser level at Home Depot last week and it paid for itself on my first install in Austin. Has anyone else switched from string lines to lasers?

Honestly, I bet you went from looking like a pro to looking like a wizard with that thing. String lines are basically just fancy trip hazards anyway. I'd rather trust a laser than my own shaky hands after two cups of coffee. Sounds like the best $60 you ever spent on not having to re-level something three times.

Agreed, @annas87, I read lasers cut time in half and you totally nailed it.

I got a Bosch laser level for about $80 and it paid for itself on the first weekend project. How do you keep the beam visible outdoors when the sun is out? Mine washes out completely past like 15 feet if it's not cloudy.
