Noticed a huge difference in cab ride quality after swapping to polyurethane guide rails.

Over the last year at the old midtown building, we had constant complaints about jerky starts on the Otis hydro, but switching from nylon to polyurethane slippers smoothed everything out almost overnight. Has anyone else seen that big a change just from swapping guide rail shoes?

Jumped from nylon to polyurethane slippers on a pair of MCE units last spring and saw the same thing. The jerkiness disappeared almost completely, especially on the deceleration into the floor, and tenant complaints dropped right off. It's surprising how much a simple material change can fix what you thought was a control or valve issue.

Yeah I was the same way, thought it had to be a control tuning issue every time. Swapping to polyurethane last month proved me wrong, smooth as butter now.

Adam, actually nylon slippers on my MCEs at 500 fpm ride smoother than polyurethane ever did here.
