I forgot to lock out the power and got a nasty shock from a control panel

I was testing some circuits and didn't fully isolate the system. It gave me a real jolt and tripped the breaker. What steps do you take to make sure power is dead before working?

Check everything twice now after I once trusted a label that was wrong. Learned that lesson the hard way with a similar zap.

This kind of thing is EVERYWHERE once you start looking. Labels on food, medicine, even instructions for gadgets can be totally wrong. I've seen it with cleaning products mixed up on store shelves. We get lazy and trust the system, but the system isn't perfect. That zap you got is a harsh reminder to always double-check. It saves so much trouble in the long run.

Hard agree, double-checking is key. @thomas.parker is spot on about labels being wrong everywhere. I grabbed hand soap once but it was dish detergent cause the labels got mixed up on the shelf. Had a nasty skin reaction from that, so now I always read the fine print.
