Vent: That HP printer from last week that just wouldn't cooperate

Had a guy bring in an HP Envy 6055e last Tuesday from over in Oakville. The thing just wouldn't power on, dead as a doornail. I swapped out the power supply board, but it still didn't kick on... turns out the main logic board had a tiny crack right near the connector. Anyone else run into these newer HP's where the boards seem flimsier than they used to?

Oh man, that crack near the connector is nasty. Was it hidden under some glue or did you spot it right away?

Think the opposite might be true honestly. If that crack was hidden under glue, it would be a manufacturing defect that slipped through quality control. Spotting it right away means the inspection process is actually working as intended, which is a good sign.

@jana_fox50 you're really gonna take that position? Here's the thing, if that crack was sitting under glue that's way worse than catching it on the line. Glue hides stuff on purpose, that's a deliberate cover up by the manufacturer to push out defective parts. Spotting it right away means the inspector is doing their job, but if they're only catching it after glue gets applied then the whole process has a gap. Your take lets the factory off the hook too easy, like they're not responsible for putting bad product through in the first place.
