The difference a good flux makes in a solder joint is night and day
I used that cheap flux from the hardware store for years and wondered why my joints looked like garbage. Switched to a quality rosin flux last month and now my connections are smooth and bright every time. Has anyone else noticed how much easier it is to get clean work with better supplies?

My buddy switched to name brand flux and stopped cussing at his workbench.

Yeah cheap flux is garbage, it'll have you pulling your hair out. Name brand stuff just flows better and doesn't leave that nasty residue that burns your eyes. I switched to a mid-tier brand a year ago and haven't cursed at my bench since.

...and honestly that reminds me of trying to bake bread during the pandemic. I finally learned that using cheap flour makes a huge difference in how your dough comes together. Same with solder, I bet. You put in the time to learn the technique but if your materials are junk you're just fighting yourself the whole way. Ngl, upgrading my flux made me feel like I actually knew what I was doing for once.
