Shoutout to the old Weller soldering stations
I used a cheap $25 iron from the hardware store for my first year in the shop, and it was a fight every time. Then I got a used Weller WES51 station for $80 off a retiring tech, and the difference was night and day. The steady heat meant I stopped lifting pads on old Nintendo boards. Anyone else have a piece of gear that just made the work click?

Yeah, that's the thing. You see it with kitchen knives, bike tools, even a good pair of pliers. People buy the cheap version to save money, but it fights you. Makes the job harder. Then you get the right tool and realize you weren't bad at the task, you just had bad gear. It's a trap.

Man, I used to think a soldering iron was just a hot stick. Why pay more? Total waste. Then I borrowed a buddy's decent station for a repair. The control was unreal. No more cold joints, no more waiting. It just worked. Completely changed how I see tools now.
