Question about the repair kiosk at the mall in Springfield

I was at the Oak Grove Mall yesterday and the guy at the phone repair counter was using a hair dryer on a laptop motherboard, which seems like a great way to cook the BGA solder joints.

Yeah that "heat gun on low" thing reminds me of a guy at the flea market who fixed my PS4 with a soldering iron and a prayer.

It's like that with everything now. People just want the quick fix, even if it wrecks the thing for good later.

That kiosk by the food court uses a heat gun on low, but it's still a bad idea. You're right, that direct heat ruins the board over time.
