PSA: I was using a cheap 25W iron on modern laptop motherboards for years...

A tech at a local shop saw me and said, 'You're cooking those pads, man.' I finally upgraded to a proper temp-controlled station and the difference is night and day. Anyone else have a 'how did I not know this' tool upgrade story?

Actually, that kind of story never gets old to me. Hearing about someone's lightbulb moment with better tools is always good. It shows people are still learning and trying to do better work. That progress is the whole point of hanging out in forums like this.
