Pro tip: Stop using compressed air to clean power supplies unless you vacuum at the same time

Was reworking a rack of server PSUs at a client site in Portland last Tuesday. Guy I was working with saw me blast air into a fan and just shook his head. Said all I'm doing is shoving dust deeper into the windings and bearings. He showed me his method - hit it with air but have a vacuum right at the exhaust port catching everything. Tried it on a unit that was clearly clogged. After cleaning, the fan spun up smoother and the unit ran 8 degrees cooler on the load test. Been doing it that way for a week now. Anyone else clean them differently?

@nancy_ross Three dust bunnies and you're already calling it a hard lesson.
