I thought those cheap thermal pads from that online auction were junk, but they saved a PS5
A guy brought in a PS5 that kept shutting down, and I was out of my usual 1.5mm pads. All I had were these no-name blue ones I got for like $8 a pack last year. I was sure they'd melt or not transfer heat right. I put them on the memory chips anyway, just to test. The console ran cool for a full hour under load, no more crashes. Has anyone else tried those generic pads and been surprised?

It's funny how often the cheap fix works just as well. We get sold on brand names, but sometimes the generic stuff does the job.

Generic pads fail more often than you'd think.

Ever notice how this applies to so many things, like batteries or light bulbs? Kai_knight62 has a point about brand names, but I've found the real issue is inconsistent quality control with generics. One batch is fine, the next fails early, so you never know what you're getting.
