Fixed a TV with the 'ol hair dryer trick and the customer was amazed

Guy walks into my shop with a 55 inch Hisense that had vertical lines all over the screen. I told him it might be a ribbon cable issue and asked if he had 5 minutes. Popped the back off, hit the ribbon connectors with a hair dryer on low for 30 seconds, let it cool, and pressed them back down. Picture came back clean and he just stood there shaking his head. Anyone else got a quick fix that looks like magic to customers?

Oh boy, be careful with a heat gun. Hair dryer is safer, can't say that enough.

Oh man, I did almost the same thing with a Samsung that had a weird flickering bar down the left side! Popped the back off and just gently heated the main flex cable near the T-con board for like 20 seconds with a heat gun on low, reseated it, and bam it was perfect. The customer was convinced I had some secret voodoo magic or something but it was just a bad connection from the factory. I love those fixes because they take almost no time but look like wizardry to people.

@dakotawood yeah that's exactly the kind of fix that looks like black magic to people lol. I had a 32 inch Vizio that was doing the same thing with vertical lines, hit the ribbon cable with a hair dryer for 20 seconds and it was good as new. The guy was so amazed he tipped me $20 on top of the service fee.
