Used to think heat gun was fine too but this post changed my mind.

Gotta say @kim819 I still think heat guns are fine for most stuff, just gotta be careful with technique.

$250 on a heat gun? That's insane. My literal heat gun from the hardware store cost $30 and I've used it for years on everything from phone screens to reflowing laptop boards. Only damage I ever did was melting a plastic connector once because I wasn't paying attention. People act like you need a spaceship console to solder a few joints.
