Replaced a main panel in a 1920s house and found 3 different generations of wiring inside
Job last month in an old house near downtown. Opened up the main panel and there was knob and tube spliced into cloth romex, which then fed into modern NM cable. Took me an extra two hours just mapping out what was live and what was dead. Has anyone else run into this kind of Frankenstein setup on a rewire?

Depends on what you mean by serious. I've seen way worse than that. Knob and tube spliced into cloth Romex is pretty normal for any house from that era. Half the houses I go into still have live knob and tube hidden in walls feeding stuff you can't even see. Two hours mapping out a panel sounds about average honestly. If that threw you off that bad maybe stick to new construction. It's not like anyone died from it.
