Old timer told me to stop using pigtails on all outlets

Met this retired electrician at a supply house in Tacoma last month. He said I was wasting time pigtailing every outlet and should just use the device itself as a splice. Tried it on a small job with 12 outlets in a new build and saved almost 2 hours. Has anyone else found that pigtails are actually overkill for standard residential work?

Had the same shift in thinking myself, @lewis.troy. That old timer knew what he was talking about.

Yeah "old timer" knew his stuff. I switched to using the outlet as a splice on a whole house rewire last year and it cut my time by a ton. Just make sure you torque the screws good and you're set.
