Walked away from a contractor who promised a 2-week bathroom reno in St. Albert

Hired a guy based on a buddy's recommendation. He swore up and down my tiny bathroom would be done in 14 days. After 3 weeks he hadn't even finished the demo. Tore out the old tub and left a pile of debris in my driveway for 10 days. I fired him last Tuesday and ate the $1500 deposit. Went with a crew from Edmonton that said 4 weeks minimum and they finished in 5. I guess that's just how it goes here. Anyone else have a bathroom project run way over what they were told?

Maybe check if the contractor even had a proper business license.

Learn from that - never give more than a third deposit upfront, max. Had a similar thing happen with my deck last year, now I hold back half the payment until the job's actually done. Sucks you lost the $1500 but at least you got out before he dragged it out for months.
