Tried two ways to seal my basement floor in Mill Woods, one was a total fail

Last fall I used a cheap water based sealer from a big box store on my concrete floor. It peeled up in under 6 months. This spring I cleaned it all off and used a proper epoxy kit from a local supplier. Night and day difference, way more durable and easier to clean. The extra cost was worth it for the long term fix. Anyone have a go-to brand for Edmonton's freeze-thaw cycles?

Your "total fail" with the water based sealer sounds like my first attempt at painting a room.

Oh man, that's the thing about first attempts, they always teach you what NOT to do in the most painful way possible. I tried painting a bathroom once and ended up with a roller stuck to the wall and more paint on me than the actual surface. Sounds like your water based sealer adventure was just the universe's way of giving you a free lesson in patience. At least now you know what a real mess looks like, right?

Yeah that "first attempt" feeling is way too real... I remember my own paint job looking like a toddler did it. What finally worked for me, @kelly385, was just taking way more time with the prep. I cleaned the walls like crazy and did two thin coats instead of one thick, messy one. Letting each coat dry all the way made a huge difference. It's still not perfect but at least it doesn't look like a total disaster anymore.
